What does a contract caterer do in a London workplace?
At Bennett Hay, we believe a great contract caterer in London does more than serve food. It understands the each client’s workplace, the people who use it, and the different moments that happen across the day.
At one of our City of London client sites, where more than 1,000 colleagues use the building, our team delivers a service across a wide range of formal and informal settings. From the busy barista bar and relaxed colleague spaces to more polished hospitality environments, each area needs a slightly different style of service.
That is where the role of a workplace caterer becomes much more personal. The food, the setting, the pace and the experience all need to feel right for the people using the space.
Tailoring food and hospitality to different workplace settings
No two workplace environments are the same, and no two service moments should feel exactly the same either.
For this client, our team has built a service that flexes across each setting. The approach is always tailored around the building, the culture of the client and the people we are serving each day.
This is central to how we work at Bennett Hay. We are independent, London based and close to our clients, which means we can adapt our service around the workplace rather than expecting the workplace to fit around us.
A café refresh led by the people who know the site best
Although the service was already performing brilliantly, our onsite team continued to look for ways to improve the everyday experience.
This is something we actively encourage across Bennett Hay. Our General Managers know their buildings better than anyone, and we champion them to keep bringing new ideas forward, whether that is through food, service, design, activations or the overall customer journey.
At this site, one of our Bennett Hay team members had a background in interior design. Rather than outsourcing every element of the café refresh, the team put that creativity to work themselves.
From the design thinking through to the final styling, they refreshed the space with the client and customers firmly at the heart of every decision.
Improving the workplace café experience
The result was more than a visual update. It was a thoughtful workplace café refresh created by the people who serve the space every day.
The team understood how customers moved through the café, where people paused, what needed to feel warmer, and how small design changes could make the area feel more inviting.
By using the skills already within the Bennett Hay team, the refresh became something more personal. It reflected the client environment, supported the customer experience and gave the café a renewed sense of energy without losing what already worked well.
What this says about Bennett Hay’s approach
This project is a lovely example of how Bennett Hay works. We trust our people, stay close to our clients and always put the people we serve first.
Every client environment is different, which is why our approach is never generic. We adapt our food, service style and hospitality around the building, the culture and the customers.
As an independent contract caterer in London, Bennett Hay has the flexibility to be creative, the operational discipline to deliver consistently, and the closeness to our teams and clients to keep improving.
Whether we are supporting formal hospitality, workplace cafés, staff dining, events or colleague engagement, our focus remains the same: creating thoughtful, tailored workplace experiences through food, service and hospitality.
