Earning the Commute

People no longer come into the office out of habit. A mandate might get them through the door, but it won’t keep them coming back. The building must give them a reason to return.

Our Director of HR and Operations, Claire Huish, recently joined Kieran Devlin for Customer Experience Magazine’s CX Champions series to discuss how workplace hospitality can make the commute worthwhile.

Where people and service meet

Claire came from logistics, moved into HR, and then took on operations as well. Today, she overseas 45 operations across London. That mix matters. What a guest feels comes down to the person serving them, so we look after our team and our service as one.

Built for each building

None of our clients want a one-size-fits-all catering model. So we listen first, learn how the building is used, and shape the service around that. Then we keep adjusting with our clients rather than waiting for a contract review to tell us something is wrong.

Technology that gives time back

Ordering apps and digital platforms help us plan stock and prepare for the lunchtime rush. But the point is to free our people. A tool that removes a friendly face from the counter misses the point.

Somewhere worth being

People are tired of screens. The office can offer what home can’t, which is real-time time with other people. A good coffee from a barista who knows your order. A lunch worth sitting down to. These moments give everyone a reason to make the journey in. You can watch the full conversation to hear it in Claire’s own words by clicking the button below.
