Celebrating National Receptionists’ Day

This month, we celebrated National Receptionists’ Day by shining a light on the brilliant guest services colleagues who represent Bennett Hay across our client sites every day.

To mark the occasion, Richard Price (Reception, Account Manager) and Rossy Shateva (Reception, Operations Manager), spent the day visiting our reception teams across the business, personally delivering thank you gifts and taking the time to recognise the people who are so often the first face, the first welcome and the first point of reassurance in the workplace.

Our guest services teams are the all important first impression. They are the friendly welcome, the fixers, the coordinators, the multi taskers, the calming influence and the people who can completely change the feel of a guest’s day.

How the workplace is changing

Since the pandemic, the role of the office has continued to evolve. Businesses are no longer asking people to come into the workplace simply because it is where work happens. The office now needs to earn the commute. It needs to offer connection, ease, service, atmosphere and a sense of belonging.

Across commercial property, there has been a clear shift towards higher quality, more experience led workplaces. There is a continued “flight to quality” in the office market, with occupiers placing greater emphasis on buildings that support experience, wellbeing and collaboration. Beautiful buildings matter. Great design matters. Technology, amenities and food all play their part. But the human experience is what makes those spaces feel alive.

That is where our teams make such a difference.

One team, one experience

We are especially proud of our blended services model, where guest services and catering sit under one Bennett Hay umbrella. In practice, this means the workplace experience feels more joined up.

A reception host can understand what is happening in the coffee bar. A catering colleague can support an event that begins at arrival. We look at the full journey, from the first welcome through to the meeting room, hospitality service and guest departure.

For our clients, this creates consistency. For guests and colleagues, it creates a more seamless experience. For our teams, it creates a stronger sense of shared purpose.

National Receptionists’ Day gave us the perfect opportunity to recognise the people who bring that experience to life every day.

To all our guest services teams, thank you for the warmth, care and professionalism you bring to every welcome. You make a bigger difference than you probably realise.
