At Bennett Hay, we’ve always believed that hospitality is about more than great food and service, it’s about people, purpose, and positive impact. Since our inception in 2010, we have been guided by principles of giving back to the community, investing in our people, sourcing food ethically, and using resources responsibly.
We have always understood and respected that sustainability must be a long term commitment. Our 2024 Impact Report marks a powerful step in formalising and articulating the great stuff we’re already doing, and the ambitious goals we’ve set for the future.
2024 a Year of Action
In 2024, we brought sustainability centre stage. From launching a new ESG framework to forming our first Growing for Good Champions network, we created a clear structure for the business to follow, built around four key impact areas:
- Human Kind – our commitment to people and inclusivity
- Food Heroes – raising the bar for quality and sustainable food
- Waste Warriors – fighting unnecessary waste at every level
- Planet Positive – reducing our environmental footprint
Highlights from Our Report
Supporting Our People
We invested in wellbeing through our bespoke ‘Beanology’ sessions, mental health training, and our Reelyze internal comms app. Over 480 hours of wellbeing support were delivered, and 170 colleagues completed our DEI training.
Fighting Waste, One Bite at a Time
Our Waste Tracker pilot rolled out across all sites, and initiatives like EXCESS recipes and creative coffee ground reuse made waste reduction tangible, tasty, and fun.
We’re also committed to removing all plastic bottles by the end of 2025.
Partnering with Purpose
We proudly partner with SEND Coffee, whose mission to empower people with disabilities aligned closely with our values. Their support helped us launch our Barista Academy, offering real career growth, skills and knowledge to our front-of-house teams.
Buying Better, Giving Back
We partner with ethical suppliers like Angry Monk and Nemi Tea, while continuing to back grassroots organisations like Arts for All and Sarcoma UK with donations, volunteering, and hands-on support.
Looking Ahead to 2025/26
- Achieving B Corp certification
- Carbon labelling on all food through Kafoodle
- Hosting our first Supplier ESG Workshop
- Removing plastic bottles across our business
- Increasing our support for adults with additional needs through employment and training
We know that there is always more to do, but we’re proud of the momentum behind Growing for Good. This isn’t just being lived by the leaders of the business, this is being propelled forwards from the ground up.
